Cost subadditivity:
For a single or multi-product firm, cost subadditivity implies that the output level (or output bundle) is produced at least cost by one firm. Economies of scope is a restricted form of subadditivity, by considering the extreme cases of comparing the costs of two firms that specialize in the production of different outputs, versus one firm that produces two products at the comparable output levels.
